Mycology 101 with Cameron Meeks
Event Information
Description
The Novalis Project is pleased to welcome back Cameron Meeks, founder of Myriad Mycology LLC, for another mushroom cultivation workshop this spring. Cameron has nurtured his entrepreneurial passion for mycology over the last 15 years, and he is a vocal advocate for the field of Applied Mycology.
The seminar will provide participants with the opportunity to become more familiar with basic to intermediate mycological processes. It will provide a clear understanding of mushroom cultivation and its nearly infinite applications. Cameron will discuss mushrooms as medicine, provide hands-on activities regarding mushroom cultivation, and review other myco-technologies.
Participants will create their own mushroom kits, which they take home and fruit their own mushrooms from using specific instructions. The workshop is dynamic and engaging with plenty of opportunities for discussion and questions regarding the many facets of mycology. Spawn and bulk medicinal mushroom formulations will also be available for purchase.
Cameron currently manages a fungal sterile tissue laboratory and Myriad Mycology’s mushroom grow rooms. His diverse experience in the field of mycology includes working for Paul Stamets at his farm in Olympia WA, assisting in the management of a 4,000 square foot oyster mushroom production facility, promoting a variety of medicinal mushroom products and businesses, building four sterile tissue laboratories, as well as Myriad’s current mushroom grow rooms.
