Description

| Documentary Screening and Q&A with Helen Clark |

By any measure, Helen Clark is an exceptional woman. Her journey from one of four children on a remote New Zealand farm to becoming New Zealand’s first elected female Prime Minister forms an outstanding and inspirational life story. In 2016, she added an even more ambitious chapter, as she attempted to become the United Nations’ first ever female Secretary-General.

MY YEAR WITH HELEN - A FILM BY GAYLENE PRESTON gives a closely observed view of Helen’s bid for the top job, as the UN turns itself inside out in an effort to deliver unprecedented transparency in an historic year.

It is the year to talk about women in Canada. Our country is playing host to the biggest women’s conference in history: Women Deliver, June 3-6, 2019, in Vancouver. Toronto Foundation, Coady International Institute, and 18 other partners are working together to build this conversation towards next June. But we’re not alone. Lots of great organizations are rallying women (and many great men!) to engage in this discussion. In celebration of the power of a year - please join us for a screening of this incredible capture of another important year. Helen Clark herself will be joining us for the Q&A.

Watch the trailer here.

A warm thank you to the AGO for offering us the beautiful Jackman Hall to host an incredible woman.

Doors open at 6:45PM. The evening will begin promptly at 7PM.

*Please request any additional requirements you may have in order to fully participate in the event by emailing Nicole Lilauwala at nlilauwala@torontofoundation.ca.
