Aims of the event:

This exciting one day educational and engagement event will bring together primary care professionals to highlight the support available from community providers.

Key Themes

  • Managing the point of diagnosis

  • Decisions about treatment

  • Support for patients living with and beyond cancer

  • Local provider support

Topics to be covered

  • Complex lives: supporting patients with comorbidities or social complexities

  • Support for patients at the point of referral

  • Dealing with common concerns and side effects of treatment

  • Learn about the providers available within the community to support patients

  • Management of treatment side effects e.g. fatigue management

  • Patient view: what a patient needs to know

  • Social complexities including finance, housing and dependents

  • The “new normal”: getting back to work, changed relationships and living with uncertainty


Target Audience

All Primary and Community Healthcare Professionals across Greater Manchester and East Cheshire

Including, but not exclusive to: GPs, Pharmacists, Practice Nurses, Community Nursing, AHPs and Cancer Managers

Please note, this event is restricted to those involved in improving cancer care in Greater Manchester in the first instance. Wider cancer alliance colleagues may be invited to attend for the purposes of shared working/learning in due course.
