  • Clara Chooi is a Managing Editor at Hybrid, overseeing its education web portfolio and a global team of journalists from its Kuala Lumpur editorial headquarters. She started her journalism career in print media in 2005, writing for Malaysia’s leading English daily The Star, before joining digital media in 2009. She worked as a politics and current affairs journalist, and news editor at The Malaysian Insider and subsequently, Malay Mail Online, for seven years before joining Hybrid in 2016.
  • Soumik Roy is Editor at Tech Wire Asia and works at Hybrid’s KL office. Roy has previously been a contributor to the Huffington Post, SAP’s Digitalist, and Informa’s BankingTech among other publications, exploring the impact of emerging technologies on businesses across industries.
  • Karen Mayer currently leads the Marketing & Communications team in Media Prima Digital, the digital arm of Malaysia’s largest integrated media group. With over 10 years of experience rooted in both startup and corporate environments, she has rich expertise in setting the strategic direction for social media that yields strong results and builds engaging content. She was one of the pioneers in the influencer and blogging industry, working directly with influencers and clients across a multitude of campaigns while leveraging on new and developing social media platforms. She is passionate about meaningful social strategy that is bolstered by data-driven insights, while always keeping business objectives in mind.
  • Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hamid is currently the President of the Malaysian Newspaper Publishers’ Association and was the immediate past president of the UiTM Masscomm Alumni. He was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) since March 2017. At NSTP, he managed the overall business and operations of the company, which has a staff of over 1,300 people and spearheaded the transformation of one of the country’s biggest publishers from a print-based to a digital-based. Before that, Jalil was Senior General Manager and Head of Corporate Affairs Department at the Securities Commission Malaysia where he was in charge of planning, developing and executing overall communications strategies as well as managing stakeholder relationship and issue management for the capital market regulator. He was then briefly seconded to the Prime Minister’s Department
