My Hero Run/Walk to benefit Lurie Children's

Cancer and other diseases rob far too many children of a carefree youth. But despite days, weeks or even months in the hospital, dedicated volunteers at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago help make life as normal as possible for these young patients. The Volunteer Programs at Lurie Children’s only operate because of generous donations from caring individuals like you. As a volunteer myself I have decided to raise money on my own for Lurie Childrens and have made it my mission to raise $20,000 in order to assist the volunteer efforts – including games, toys, arts and crafts, and special events for the patients and their siblings at the hospital.
Come show your true love and support of a great organization at the MY HERO 5K Run/Walk to benefit Lurie Children’s. The race will be held on Saturday April 1st 2017 from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM starting and finishing just north of Chicago’s historic Montrose Harbor. You can find a map of the run route in the location section of this webpage. Get into the spirit of the race by dressing as your favorite superhero. Each participant will also receive an event t-shirt to wear while they run/walk a 5K. The most accurate timing methods available will be used for runners interested in tracking their race time. The race will feature a live DJ and beautiful views of the lakefront path and downtown Chicago. Join the run as an individual or sign up as a team with your friends or co-workers to help us reach, or hopefully surpass, our goal. Please join us in our efforts to raise money and awareness for Lurie Children’s. This 5K will take place rain or shine and Space is limited so get your tickets fast. See you there!
How early should I arrive on race day?
Race-bib/ T-shirt pick up will occur the morning before the actual race starts. Please arrive between 7:45 and 8:30 for this pick up.

What's the refund policy?
Since this events sole purpose is to raise money for Lurie Childrens hospital, all sales will be final. you may transfer your bib number to another runner if this is done at least one week prior to the event.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Upon registering for this event, you will receive a ticket that you will be able to print. Please bring this ticket with you to the event. This will be considered your voucher for your race bib and T-shirt.
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
In order to protect our participants, the name on the ticket must match the person who attends the event.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
We ask that each participant brings some form of photo I.D. to the event for T shirt and race Bib pick up.
What can I bring into the event?
Please bring your ticket and photo I.D. Water will be provided during the race. However, If you feel the need to bring your own water please feel free. There will be no secure place provided by the event for participants to store their valuables, so please be mindful of this and pack light.
Parking and transportation?
Parking is limited to a metered parking lot located just west of the start/finish line in grove 16 at Montrose Harbor. Public transportation is also available: The 146 bus drops riders off just west of the grove on N. Marine Drive and W. Montrose Ave. The Wilson red line stop is also within walking distance of the grove.

Can I ride a bike during the race?
This race is for running/walking only and does not allow Bicycles, In-line Skates, Or Other wheeled vehicles. Wheel Chairs, Hand cranks, and Baby Joggers are permitted to compete in this race.
Can I bring my dog?
No, Dogs are not permitted at this race unless they are a certified service animal.
Are There awards for winning the race?
There are no Awards for winning, however with every entry purchased you recieve one ticket for a few prizes that we will be raffling off.
What is the weather policy?
This race will be run rain or shine. As long as it is safe for participants to be outside, we will run the race.
