Event Details

Betti Ono proudly present  2014 My Art , My Culture Series an annual celebration of International Women's Month featuring women centric arts exhibitions, experiences and programs throughout the month of March in collaboration with local artists, organizations and event sponsors.

This year features the first annual My Art, My Culture Awards in recognition of Bay Area women artists and activists that have used their art to significantly impact the cultural, social and political landscape on a local and global level. The awards were created as part of our ongoing efforts to promote art and creativity as a catalyst for social change.

The 2014 Honorees include internationally recognized artists and activists Juana Alicia, Yuri Kochiayma, Kilu Nyasha, Amara T. Smith and emerging arts leader Lexx Valdez. The My Art, My Culture 2014 Awards Event will be held on International Womens Day, Saturday, March 8 from 6-8pm at Betti Ono.

The event will feature the unveiling of a commemorative mural by international artists and activists CeCe Carpio and Jessica Sabogal and an honoree reception with special guests and performances.

In addition to the awards event, the My Art, My Culture 2014 series includes ongoing public programs and special events throughout the month.  Passes, tickets and schedules to attend the awards are listed above.
