Description

Are you ready for the next edition of MUV Talks?!

This May we will be celebrating “Agents of Change” - seven entrepreneurs and creators who are putting social and environmental impact at the forefront of their work. Come along to meet awesome people and hear inspiring stories from our speakers as they take us on their journey of putting people and planet first.

What is MUV Talks?

Is a non-profit series focused on building capability and relationships within communities. What makes it special is that it is driven by the purpose of celebrating and empowering everyday people who are doing incredible things. We focus on sharing stories that may otherwise not be heard.
Each event consists of seven talks for seven minutes, from a diverse set of people with different experiences and points of view, talking about one common theme. Our unique approach to networking helps to create an energetic and friendly environment that guarantees an exceptional experience for our attendees.
We held the first New Zealand event in November 2016, themed ‘Epic Women with Epic Stories’. You can check out the talks on our Youtube channel: http://bit.ly/MUVTalks-YouTube

Introducing our inspiring speakers!

Meet Amina Mohamed

Amina Mohamed

Amina accidentally stumbles into amazing opportunities. These opportunities have led her to work in the social enterprise sector, managing a fashion label and becoming a grant manager. She completed a degree in Information Systems at AUT but has worked in the non-profit and social enterprise sector from a young age. She manages Cottonseed, a New Zealand based clothing label which supports immigrant women with resettling and integrating into their new society by building on the skills while also working towards completing her masters.

Meet Lauren Peate

Lauren Peate

Lauren founded and leads Ally Skills NZ, which helps forward-thinking companies make diversity and inclusion a reality by focusing on ally skills--simple, everyday ways that people can use their voice and influence to support marginalised groups. Lauren has worked with diverse, high-performance teams around the world: She has been a management consultant for Bain & Co. in San Francisco advising Fortune 500 companies, Interim COO of an eCommerce startup in Jordan, business mentor for companies across the Middle East and Southeast Asia, and a Fulbright Scholar in Morocco. Lauren received her bachelor’s degree in Economics from Stanford University.

Meet Gill Bredl

Gill Bredl

Gill Bredl was born in the U.K. but has called New Zealand home for the last 10 years. Married to Barnie, and mum to 3 wonderful kids; she is passionate about family, following Jesus and leaving a legacy of love in the world.

Gill previously had a career in Youth and Community work but after hearing about a starving baby abandoned in a hospital in Haiti via a friend, she launched a charity called Ten18international and later launched a social enterprise, Charity Tea.

Gill hopes to see the hungry fed and believes that "love is sustainable".

Meet Michelle Euinton

Michelle Euinton

Michelle Euinton. A healer, creative, storyteller, nomadic explorer, social entrepreneur and facilitator are a few descriptions that resonate these days.

Originally from Zimbabwe I now live in NZ, however, my sense of home is truly global.

A series of personal experiences and journeys lead me to discover the power of children’s drawings and stories - when shared with each other around the world. Colour Our Story facilitates the creation of precious colouring in books made by kids for kids. Through the exchange of these personal drawings and short stories children are able to experience connection, therapy, empowerment and a deeper sense of what it means to be compassionate, loving, global citizens.

Meet Carolyn Cox

Carolyn Cox

Green Business HQ founder Carolyn Cox is an agent for positive environmental change. Carolyn has developed and implemented sustainability strategies for construction, manufacturing, education and retail businesses. As well as low carbon action plans for local government. Carolyn loves to upskill and empower sustainability champions and changemakers across organisations. Developing strategies, plans, decision making tools, and training to transition to zero carbon.

Meet Shay Lawrence

Shay Lawrence

Founder of CaliWoods, Shay Lawrence, is a surfer and complete ocean lover. She started CaliWoods to inspire more sustainable living and contribute the best she can towards all the positive changes happening in the eco space.

Her business uses Reusable Straws and a hospitality-grade Paper Straw range to get individuals, as well as industry, to start thinking about their daily waste and encourage more conscious consumption.

A close connection to the beach and life-changing travel experiences has inspired Shay to build CaliWoods. It is her channel to contribute to protecting and restoring the planets natural environments.”
