Description

NASW NH is pleased to offer these two workshops.

You may attend the first workshop (3 hours) or the full day (6 hours).

Music and Medicine: A Complementary Partnership

Explore the history, research, and development of music as a complementary therapeutic intervention in Health Care. Don Campbell, author of The Mozart Effect, and a recognized authority on the transformational power of music notes that we are witnessing a wave of new research in the areas of music and the brain, and the effects of the sound environment on health. The intricacies and complexities of illness in our society today require a holistic and systematic approach to health and wellness. As was noted in the Journal of Medical Ethics and History of Medicine in the article, “Health Care Practices in Ancient Greece: The Hippocratic Ideal,” Hippocrates believed that the role of music and theater in the treatment of physical and mental illnesses was essential, especially in the improvement of human behavior. Consider adding this valuable and accessible resource to your portfolio. The mindful application of music will exponentially improve the health and wellness outcomes that you desire!
