Music in Montessori Classrooms with Michael Johnson

Michael Johnson is a musician and an AMI certified Montessori educator with over five years of international experience managing elementary classrooms. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, he holds an M.A. in Music Education from Portland State University in addition to a Montessori Elementary diploma, which he received from the Montessori Institute of Milwaukee. Michael is also certified in the Kodály method of teaching music to children. In 2013, he performed with a small choir of children for 3,500 Montessori practitioners at the Montessori International Congress in Portland, OR. While seeking publication for his book, Make Music in Montessori by Monday, Michael leads music workshops for teachers around the world.
Just a few of the great topics Michael will be featuring in the workshop are: Singing in the classrooms, The Montessori Bells, Introduction to the tone bars and the Major & Minor scale strips, follow up in the elementary - composing, and musical storytelling. This event is good for both casa and elementary Montessori teachers.
Doors open at 8:30am. Workshop begins at 9:00am and ends at 2:30pm.
Coffee will be provided - please bring a reusable mug or cup. Also, there will be a half-hour lunch break. Please bring your own lunches.
