The World's Longest Reigning Monarch, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (King Rama IX) of Thailand is an accomplished jazz musician and composer. As schoolboy in Switzerland, King Bhumibol read books about music and received private lessons in reading and writing classical music. When he was ten, he began studying the clarinet which he had bought with his own money performing chores. From the clarinet, he graduated to the saxophone and later the piano. At the age of 32, he was awarded honorary membership of the Vienna Institute of Music and Arts. He used to play jazz music on air on the Aw Saw Radio Station earlier in his reign. He has written a total of 78 songs over a period of five decades. His songs can often be heard at social gatherings and are performed in concerts.
On Sunday, December 11, The school of Thai Language & Culture of San Deigo would like to invite to join us for a music concert performed by San Diego musicians and sung by memebers of the San Diego Thai Community.
