Mushroom Cultivation with Dan Agro

Mushroom Cultivation Workshop: Saturday, May 20th from 10am–1pm at CEBE
Join Dan Agro of AgroMyco to learn how to cultivate mushrooms.
Workshop will include:
- Lecture on the basics of the mushroom life cycle, spawn production, different types of fungi, and specifics on Oyster and Shiitake mushrooms that we will be inoculating on logs.
- Choosing and drilling your logs, log stacking methods, incubation and fruiting.
- Hands on workshop where participants would drill, plug and wax a log that they would take home.
- Plug spawn will be available to buy, but typically Dan teaches the process of using saw dust spawn plugged into logs using an innoculation tool. A few of these will be available for people to buy. Dan will also have some sawdust spawn for purchase.
Fee: $20 per person will include materials

Dan Agro has been cultivating mushrooms for 15 years and foraging for 10 of those. Three years ago he started a small mushroom-based consulting and supply company called AgroMyco. His passion for mushrooms are primarily food- and medicine-based with a strong focus on Ethnomycology. Dan has a degree in Geography and Anthropology and also attended Johnson & Wales University for Culinary Arts. Born and raised in Gray Maine on a heavily forested lake to a family of 11, the woods were his place of peace and continue to be to this day. Currently he is employed as a GIS specialist (mapping expert) for a local engineering firm.
