Event description

Description

Part of the NATIONAL QUEER ARTS FESTIVAL 2018
Hosted by Artist & The DJ and Queer Cultural Center

This showcase will reflect the theme, “Resist”. We'll be celebrating queer women and women of color and their influence on art, music and small business growing within and around their community. As artists, djs, leaders, and small business owners, they are creating something that is their own, counteracting a long standing history of being underrepresented and undervalued in the art and business industry. These women are creating sustainability and protecting their community by putting forth resources that will help elevate, inspire, and engage the world. This event is urgent because we need to show the people of Oakland that this particular community of queer women and women of color is still alive, thriving, and keeping Oakland creative.

Join us for Muse-ic #3 - A Love Affair Between Art & Sound. This time we celebrate influential queer women and women of color from the bay area.

There will be a vendor market featuring Bushmama Africa. She will be selling handmade jewelry, art, and accessories.

Lani Grooves, will be blessing us with a live acoustic performance featuring her original music and a few cover songs.

DJ Nina Sol, DJ Slum B, and The Plush One are your DJs for the day. They all have curated a very special strictly vinyl soundtrack featuring music from only women of color.
