INFORMATION SESSION
Murray Bridge Regional Gallery
4pm, Tuesday 29th November
The Murray Bridge Collaboration on Violence against Women and Children, Spirit of Woman organisation and the Rural City of Murray Bridge will work together to create a local ‘Place of Courage’ for the Murray Bridge region. A permanent public tribute, in the form of a commemorative artwork to the victims and survivors of domestic and family violence (DFV) has been funded via a Rural City of Murray Bridge ‘major quick wins’ Community Grant in October 2022.
Service providers, schools, community and craft groups are invited to get involved in the Place of Courage project. Our aim is to encourage a whole of Community approach in the education and prevention of domestic and family violence.
Groups are invited to run a creative or education project ahead of the 'Place of Courage' public artwork launch in April 2023 at the Murray Bridge riverfront.
Spirit of Woman will present ideas and initiatives that have worked well to support the project elsewhere. Helen from the Haven, Murray Bridge Community Centre will introduce a community quilting project and the Rural City of Murray Bridge will share education kit resources for a DIY approach in schools, art and craft groups.
There are also performance and speaking opportunities associated with the launch event.
DFV is a whole of community issue and we need your help to keep the conversation going. For more information on this project please go to the Rural City of Murray Bridge website
Light refreshments will be served and you will have the opportunity to take a look at the current exhibition ‘Pub Rock’ touring from the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra.
