Event description

Have you wondered what it takes to run for a local office but didn't know where to start?

Interested in what goes on behind the scenes during a municipal campaign?

Would you like to be a better activist, making your part of CT just a little nicer and a little bluer?

Come join the Newtown Democrats in a series of workshops from local experts on getting campaigns up and running effectively!

Whether you are thinking of running for a Legislative Council, Board of Finance, Planning and Zoning Commission or any local office or just want to help those who are, we will help you get laced up and running!

We are offering workshops to give you the tools to campaign or help local campaigns reach their goals. The workshops will be held in four blocks during the day to allow for multiple opportunities to learn.

Sessions include:

  • Social Media Tools (Andrew Gausepohl)

  • VAN for Campaign Managers and Candidates (Bill Hopf)

  • VAN for Activists and Door Knockers (Bill Hopf)

  • Field Organizing (Lisa Labella & Terra Volpe)

  • Communication & Literature (Jonathan Perloe & Dave Stowe)

  • Master The Art of Political Persuasion (Prevail Blue)

  • SEEC Rules (Sarah Clark)

  • Fundraising (Meghan Forgione)

  • GOTV (Nancy Lefkowitz)

  • The Art of Door Knocking (Prerna Rao)

  • Youth Activism (Raghib Allie-Brennan & Kevin Alvarez)

Most sessions will run twice during the day.

Registration begins at 9am followed by opening remarks form our State Party Chair, Nancy Wyman 9:30am.

Attorney General William Tong will be joining us for lunch!

Please sign up for one session in each of the time blocks, labeled 1-4. We will have two sessions in the morning, two in the afternoon and a final panel discussion at the end of the day.

The Persuasion class is being run by Prevail Blue and takes up BOTH afternoon slots.
