MUNI Streetcar Adventure!
Thursday, October 3, 2013 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM (PDT)
San Francisco, CA
Our public transportation system here in San Francisco, MUNI, is often maligned for many reasons: intermittent service, too slow, too many stops (too few?), bloated budgets, unsavory patronage, etc. In this instance, we would like to make the argument that it is one of the the finest examples of a government run organization in the world for the following solitary reason-
One is allowed to charter a streetcar, establish a custom itinerary almost anywhere around the city, and fill this streetcar with as many friends and as much booze as can comfortably fit aboard.
We decided to take advantage of this little-known public-good for a voyage around the city for no better reason than it sounds like an incredibly good time.
Historic Streetcar No. 228 will ferry us from Dolores Park, up Market Street, around the Embarcadero to Fisherman's Wharf and back. The trip will take approximately two hours and if we're lucky we should be hitting the Wharf as the sun is setting. I'm awaiting confirmation but we hope to have incredibly loud speakers on board for a proper Bay 2 Breakers atmosphere.
And of course we will supply all the beer you can drink.
This ship sets sail from Cervecería de MateVeza AT 6:30 PM ON THE DOT - DON'T BE LATE!
