Description

Multisystemic Equity in Social Work Practice: Inquiry and Change

Advancing equity and social justice is one of the primary tenets of the social work profession, thus the integration of social equity and social action into all areas of social work practice is essential. Social workers are expected to enact individual, interpersonal, institutional, and structural social change with the purpose of eradicating multisystemic privilege and oppression. Due to our socialization experiences and limitations in our professional training, we often struggle with this important task. This interactive workshop will offer participants opportunities to use reflection to assess and modify their practice.

Objectives

1. Deepen their understanding of multisystemic privilege and oppression (e.g. sexism, racism, ableism, transphobia, others)
2. Explore their social identity socialization experiences and reflect on the impact of those experiences on their professional beliefs and practices with individuals, institutions, and structures
3. Reflect on and share social justice/equity frameworks

Instructor
