You are invited to GDABVI's 3rd Annual Multi-Sensory Haunted House -- a "fun"raiser to support our summer programs for blind and visually impaired kids. Only $5 per person; Family Pack $20. Kids 3 years and under are free. Enjoy a complimentary hot dog and cup of hot chocolate with your admission donation. More information is below in the FAQs.

HOW TO SELECT A DATE AND TIME...
People with disabilities special access times: There will be dedicated tour times on Friday 3-5pm and Saturday 4-5pm for people with disabilities (or different abilities). This will allow more hands-on, sensory experience in the Haunted House -- see FAQ information below for more details.

General public times: Friday 6-9pm and Saturday 5-9pm.

Want to volunteer? Join our Volunteer Crafts & Decorating Day on Sun, Oct 20 from 2-4pm. Please call 313-272-3900 to sign up or for more information -- all are welcome!

FAQs

Why are there different date and time selections for tickets?

Because we are a non-profit organization for the blind, we want to ensure that all people with disabilities (or different abilities) have adequate time to experience the Haunted House. This may mean that some participants need more time to touch, hear, smell and manuever their way through the maze, along with audible descriptions by tour leaders of what is occuring around them. These extra-time tours will take place on Friday, Oct 25 from 3-5pm, and on Saturday, Oct 26 from 4-5pm. Members of the general public may participate during these times too with an understanding of these priorities, and if space allows.

Again, Friday, Oct 25 from 3-5pm is for people with disabilities and their guests. This includes anyone who needs more time due to mobility challenges. General public time is 6-9pm.

Saturday, Oct 26 from 4-5pm is for people with disabilities and their guests. This includes anyone who needs more time due to mobility challenges. General public time is 5-9pm. (There will be a break from 6:30-7pm for Haunted House volunteers and so that displays can be fixed, batteries replaced, etc.)

Are there any minimum age requirements to enter the Haunted House?

The Haunted House is open to persons of any age. However, we suggest children under 3 years of age (including babies) enjoy the storybook reading and craft activities on the first floor with a parent or guardian. The second floor Haunted House is dimly lit and could be confusing and frightening to little ones...and some adults :-)

What are my parking options?

For persons with disabilities, we have limited parking lot spaces available in the GDABVI lot. There is ample free parking on Grand River Ave and adjacent streets.

Can children wear costumes?

Yes, we highly encourage children to wear Halloween costumes to fully enjoy the activities.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Please contact Malaika with any questions or if you are interested in volunteering for Haunted House set ups and decorations (313) 272-3900 or English@GDABVI.org

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, it is not required. However, to process your ticket more quickly, we encourage you to bring your printed ticket or show your mobile phone ticket. We will have your name from the online ticket sheet at the admissions desk.

If I cannot attend after all, is my admission ticket transferrable?

Yes. If you cannot attend, you may print and give your ticket to another person. All ticket transfers are final and are the responsibility of the ticket purchaser.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes, as long as you have a printed ticket or mobile phone ticket to show at the admission desk.

Will the Haunted House be cancelled in bad weather?

No, the Haunted House and children's craft activities are indoors. We're ready for a "spooky" good time, rain or snow.

I'm unable to attend but I'd still like to support you. What can I do to help?

Thanks for asking! As noted below, we need Haunted House volunteers. But you can also help in other ways including:

* Purchasing candy to give to Haunted House kids;

* Sharing this fundraising event with your friends and family;

* Donating Amazon, Spirit Halloween, Costco, Lowe's or other vendor cards so we can purchase new animatronic displays, lights, glow sticks, costumes, masks and materials. Please contact Malaika at (313) 272-3900 or English@GDABVI.org for more information

Are you looking for volunteers?

Yes! We are in need of volunteers to help with Haunted House set ups and other decorations. Our first volunteer day is October 12th from 2-4pm. Come by and help us set up props, make displays, design decorations and more. Pizza lunch included. Plus, we need several volunteers for scare stations in the Haunted House on each day. This is a great opportunity for students who need some community service hours too. We'd be happy to talk with you more about this. Please contact Malaika at (313) 272-3900 or English@GDABVI.org
