What is Indian food?

Most people will say curry, this is now synonymous with anything put in a blended spice gravy. If you specifically ask Indians this question you will have the opposite happening. Punjabis will say chicken makhani, Goans will say prawn curry, people from Tamil Nadu will say dosa; we can keep going at this, but you get the idea.

Now if you ask Indians what does food mean for them?

Home, friends and family are some of the words that will come up. It does not matter if you are from the foothills of Himalayas or beaches of Kerala those words represent a universal feeling. A meal is more than just a meal. They are memories with your grandparents, celebrating weddings or anniversaries and just hanging out with friends.

It’s in this spirit we have started mukām. We want to be your local destination to celebrate everyday life and special occasions.

And as we look for a permanent space in Berlin, we will be doing a series of Ek Bar (which means one time in Hindi) pop-ups. Ek Bar will feature our Indian and Pakistani chefs cooking together and presenting regional flavours in the form of two tasting menus.

The first will feature a selection of vegetarian and meat options and the second will be completely vegan. Both menus (Tasting Menu 30 Euros | Vegan Tasting Menu 25 Euros) will offer a window to the foods from the different regions of the Indian subcontinent. We will showcase the regional diversity and take you on a culinary journey.
