About this event

Every First Saturday of the month and for 1 hour and 30 minutes,

we invite everyone who identifies as a woman, to disconnect from their daily activities and embroider quotes, sayings, proverbs, drawings, or use their hands with any type of fiber art (crochet, knitting, among others).

EVERY TECHNIQUE it’s welcome, and no experience is needed.

We will meet every First Saturday of the month from 7 to 8:30 pm (New York time).

ABOUT MATERIALS:

We can work with the materials that you have at home.

If you don't have materials for this meeting, don't worry. You could also sketch ideas on a piece of paper, and we will talk about embroidering techniques or our experience crafting.

For those living in the United States, I am selling Embroidery Kits on my Etsy Shop. Please, do allow at least 9 days, between making your order and the delivery is received. We want to make sure you have your materials before our meeting.

HOUSE RULES: All these steps are in place to ensure a safe environment for everyone.

Our reunions will not be recorded (unless requested and granted permission by the participants)

Only will receive the link and password those who sign up in advance through the Eventbrite event link.

The Zoom link and password will be sent to your email a day before the event.

Participants will be encouraged to put down their devices and create something.

Introverts, survivors, and mental health warriors highly encourage to join us! We speak your language ;)

WE ARE A DONATION-BASED GROUP:

MUJERES STITCHERS originally was created for Spanglish speakers in Brooklyn, NY who identified as intersectional feminists and were craving to speak their language and share resources while doing embroidery in a safe and affordable space.

The COVID Pandemic has given us the opportunity to meet with more minded makers around the world.

And since we went online, classes have been offered for free.

If you want to support Montserrat’s mission to keep providing this space, please do consider making a donation at https://bit.ly/3hQMiP7

Organizer Montserrat Vargas

Organizer of Mujeres Stitchers - SPANGLISH - 1st Saturday of each month - Online Reunion

Montserrat Vargas

Montserrat’s experience includes teaching and co-teaching through art.

In her individual work, Montse explores the contemporary female+immigrant perspective highlighting the importance of talking about mental health specially in the Hispanic community.

Currently, she has been leading craftivist workshops and selling her artwork on her Etsy Store.

Montse has found in the practice of craftivism, the alignment to fight for a cause, work meaningfully and don’t let her introvertive side in the shadows. She truly enjoys to build community and stitching quietly with a cup of tea.

Follow at IG #MontserratVargasEmbroidery to see more of her work.
