Join CEP for a discussion about climate change, including new findings from our latest research report.

About this event

Thursday, July 14th, 2-3:15 PM EDT

What are foundation leaders doing to address climate change, in their mission-related work and in their investment practices? How pressing of a problem is climate change from the perspective of foundation and nonprofit leaders, and how do they think climate change will affect their work? Moreover, how are leaders of organizations that do not focus on climate change thinking about this issue, and to what extent are these leaders currently addressing — or open to addressing — climate change relative to their context, goals, and strategies?

Given the urgency of our current stark climate realities, join us for a vital conversation where a panel of experts will explore and respond to new findings from the Center for Effective Philanthropy’s latest report, Much Alarm, Less Action: Foundations and Climate Change, which directly addresses these questions.

Research Presenters:

Naomi Orensten, former Director, Research, CEP, now Senior Director of Programs and Strategy, Dorot Foundation

Katarina Malmgren, Senior Analyst, Research, CEP

Moderator:

Crystal Hayling, Executive Director, The Libra Foundation

Panelists:

Colette Pichon Battle, Co-Executive Director, Gulf Coast Center for Law & Policy

Kara Inae Carlisle, Vice President of Programs, McKnight Foundation

Taryn Higashi, Executive Director, Unbound Philanthropy

“No matter the issue-area or geographic focus of your foundation, climate change has or will intersect with some aspect of your organization’s work and the people you serve. The impacts of climate change are increasingly evident and, as those impacts become more severe, virtually every issue or area of funding will be directly or indirectly affected.” – Foundation leader from CEP report
