Mu-moot 2.0
Event Information
Description
Mu-moot is a friendly and supportive meeting for learners, teachers and software developers interested in computing, mentoring, technology, pedagogy, programming and education. Mu is a code editor for beginner programmers and those who support learners. Many of Mu's developers and supporters live near London. While the Mu code editor provides a focus for our meetings we are not limited to Mu related activities, discussions or presentations. Rather, Mu-moot is a place to encounter new ideas, share knowledge and meet a diverse group of like-minded people.
The programme for this evening includes:
- 6pm: Welcome from Mu's creator Nicholas Tollervey and our hosts Kano, who will also very kindly provide pizza and refreshments.
- 6:30: Presentation: The Short / Medium / Long Term Future of Mu. Followed by a Q&A.
- 7pm: Lightning talk slots - your chance to say something.
- 7:15-ish: Practical Workshop: Debugging With Mu - What is debugging? Why do I need it? How do I do it?
- 8pm: Social drink in a local pub.
Doors open at 6pm with pizza and refreshments, proceedings begin properly at 6:30pm and we aim to get to the pub at 8pm-ish. If you'd like to give a quick (5 minute) lightning talk (tell us what's on your mind!) please let Nicholas know (ntoll@ntoll.org). Alternatively, if you'd like to contribute a presentation, workshop or other activity in a future Mu-moot please get in touch. Future plans already include Dan Pope (creator of PyGameZero) presenting about writing games in Python.
