Event description

Description

Get ready for a fun one ladies!! Please bear with me as this will be a long event description, I will try to keep it basic! I have done lots of backpacking including some nights on the A.T. I've mostly backpacked in the midwest (WV is my FAVORITE) Anyway, I'm excited to join others who love backpacking and introduce it to those who have never done it! This event will be kept small - only 10 spots! (significant others are welcome but must register and count as part of the 10 tickets). Dogs are also welcome on the trail. If your dog has never camped before I would recommend letting them sit this one out just in case they don't do well overnight.

Where: Zaleski State Forest. We will be meeting at 9:30am at the Hope Schoolhouse (address on event) I hope to definitely be hiking by 10am. Registration for the backpacking trail is at the trailhead and free of charge.

How long: The hike to camp is about 7 miles. The hike back to the lot the next day is about 6.5 miles. On the way to camp there is a water spickett around mile 3 if it is needed for anyone. The next day everyone will have to be sure to fill up at camp as we do not pass a designated water source.

What to bring: Must bring your own food, water (general rule is 1 liters for 2 hours, take weather into account when packing), and sleeping system. If this is you absolute first time and you have everything you need except a sleeping system, email\contact me may be able to help you out. (I have a few extras)

What I will have: I will have a stove that everyone can use if need be. I find dehydrated meals easiest and lightest (personal preference). I will also bring my water filter in case of emergency out-of-water situation (been there done that). I will bering some snacks for everyone for before, during and after the hike. I will also have the basics like first aid, directions, etc. CAMERA, DUH (PICTURESPICTURESPICTURES)

Things to note: This trail is fairly easy, it has designated campsites, outhouses and as previously mentioned it has water spicketts. The trail is pretty flat (welcome to Ohio amiright), and well marked in most areas (use 'most' with caution..first time on the trail I got so lost and turned around I turned a 12 mile day into an 18 mile day...*facepalm*) I know it's a weekday trip and I apologize but my job is great (not) and time off is not an option at the moment. I truly hope y'all can make it work! If not...there will be moree!! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out! Stay Wild ;)

As always ---

NEW ATTENDANCE POLICY. PLEASE READ. Hi ladies! Mtn Chicks Founder, Dani, here. We have some new events planned for the remainder of this year and 2018. Unfortunately we see some no-shows at our events, which makes it difficult for those of you that can attend to get a spot on the RSVP list (please note that we cap events for safety and leave no trace principles). Due to this, we are rolling out a new 2- strike attendance policy for ambassador planned events. Below are the details. If you have any questions about this policy, please let us know right away! We are simply trying to make the RSVP experience better for all of you.

1. If you RSVP for a Mtn Chicks official event and can no longer attend, you must cancel 24hrs before the event. We will always send out a link detailing how to do so.

2. If you must cancel your RSVP the day of the event, you must notify the Mtn Chicks Ambassador planning the event. Our contact information will be made available to those that RSVP. Facebook messenger is a good option as well.

3. Failure to do the above and not show up to an event you RSVP'd for will result in a strike.

4. Upon your second strike, you will not be allowed to attend the third event you try to RSVP for. Should you RSVP for a third event after your second strike, we will cancel your ticket and email you privately so you are aware.

5. On the fourth event, the process will start all over and you will have a clean slate.

FAQ: -Does this only count for consecutive events? No, we will keep track of the events you as an individual RSVP for. If you RSVP and do not show up for an event in December, then the next event you RSVP and do not show for is in February, this will count as 2 strikes for you. -I don't know how to cancel my ticket, how do I do that? When you RSVP, a link on how to do so will be sent to you. -What if I have an emergency the day of and can't get a hold of you? Please do the best you can to notify us. We're not trying to prevent members from attending these events, we're trying to make sure we're all communicating and those that can attend an event are given the opportunity to do so.
