Climb Mt. Elbert- the highest mountain in the Rockies and in Colorado and the second highest in the contiguous United States all in the name of freedom!

Mt. Elbert is known as the “gentle giant.” But don’t let the name fool you rising to 14,440 feet it will still be a challenge!

An amazing challenge for an amazing cause!

This trail will take you through a little over 10 miles of the most beautiful scenery with breathtaking views of the world below once at the summit.

Join others as we challenge ourselves and raise awareness for a mighty cause.

Together we can make a difference. By using the outdoors as a platform for good.

We can shout it from the (literal and proverbial) mountaintops!

In order to best reduce the potential of getting altitude sickness it is recommended to arrive 2-3 days before the hike.

We will be doing a short acclimation hike (5 miles or less) the day before.

You will be responsible for transportation to the event lodgings. The cabin is shared room accommodations.

Plan on arriving Wednesday. Acclimation hike will be Thursday followed by a group meal at the cabin. Hike will be Friday morning (around 4:30 am) and will be followed by a celebration and dinner upon return.

Wednesday dinner, Thursday breakfast and dinner and Friday breakfast as well as dinner will be included.

The Freedom Hike is an individual hiking event with the intent that each hiker is assuming all responsibility for their training, preparation, and hike. Although it is regarded as a personal hike/fundraiser for the organization Rescue Freedom, to foster community, the hike will take place as a group. Interactions with volunteers before and during the hike are considered assistance based, as any hiker would offer on the trail. The Freedom Hike is not a guide service and the volunteers are not guides.
