Event Details

This annual event, sponsored by the Michigan Shipwreck Research Association, brings together some of the biggest names in shipwreck research and discovery in a fun and entertaining environment for an evening of shipwreck tales, extraordinary underwater images, and stunning video!

The Chicora Comes Full Circle

MSRA’s Craig Rich and Valerie van Heest revisit the Chicora’s 1895 loss and recent claim of discovery while exploring the roots of MSRA.

Shipwrecks in the News

WZZM reporter Brent Ashcroft shares insights into the news business through his shipwreck feature stories, including the shore wreck Contest.

Expedition Unknown

MSRA’s Valerie van Heest provides a behind the scenes look as she joins Josh Gates, the host of TV’s popular show “Expedition Unknown,” to go in search of a famous lost vessel. (to be revealed!)

Exploring the SS Senator

Technical diver John Janzen makes Lake Michigan’s deepest dive to over 400 feet to film the Senator, lost in 1929 while carrying a cargo of over 200 new Nash automobiles.

Illuminating Imagery – Great Lakes Shipwrecks

Emmy award-winning photographer Becky Kagan Schott takes a journey around the Great Lakes illuminating some of the most spectacular shipwrecks, including the Cornelia B. Windiate.

Plus, See MSRA’s work featured on the Weather Channel.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and free with various membership levels. Advance tickets will be emailed to you. You may print them and bring them with you or simply show them on your mobile device. We will scan them at the door.

Michigan Shipwreck Research Association

Michigan Shipwreck Research Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, whose mission is to preserve and promote Michigan's submerged maritime history. The organization's work includes research and documentation of submerged cultural resources and the creation of educational resources. MSRA hosts an annual public symposium, maintains a website and facebook page, produces newsletters, documentary films, informative articles, books and museum exhibits, and makes presentations to youth and adult organizations.  

Formed in 2001 by a board of directors who oversee operations , MSRA relies on memberships, fundraising events and grants to continue its work. Over more than 15 years, MSRA has and continues to research, discover, and document many significant Great Lakes shipwrecks.
