Description

Come to scenic Cedar Falls, Iowa, to attend Ms. Jen's Summer 2019 Trauma-Sensitive Schools Trainings. Ms. Jen's book Building Trauma-Sensitive Schools: Your Guide to Creating Safe, Supportive Learning Environments for All Students was released in February of 2019, and Ms. Jen is excited to offer a series of trainings this summer.

Childhood trauma negatively impacts at least one in four students in every single classroom, every day. Whether youth show behavior problems, academic difficulties, or a combination of both, educators must learn how to better understand and meet traumatized students’ needs.

In Ms. Jen's level I training on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 8:30-3:30 CDT, educators, mental health professionals, caregivers, and other stakeholders will learn what trauma is, identify the many ways childhood trauma can impact youth, and learn how to help students succeed. By exploring what works and why when it comes to building trauma-sensitive schools, you will be ready to begin to implement new strategies that will help you help all kids. Cost for the 1-day training is $150 with an early bird price of $99 for those who register by 3/1/2019. Group discount available for teams of 5 or more who register for Level I at any time. (A light breakfast will be provided and lunch will be on your own.)

In Ms. Jen's discipline practices session on Monday July 22, 2019 from 12:30-3:30 CDT, participants will learn the dos and dont's of disciplining students in trauma-sensitive ways. Only sign up for this training if you have attended a previous Ms. Jen training that did not include a focus on discipline. Participants in Ms. Jen's 2019 MLK Day training, for instance, already learned about trauma-sensitive discipline practices, and attendees of the Monday, June 17, 2019 training will have had it as well. If you have not previously participated in a Ms. Jen training, sign up for Ms. Jen's level I training instead. Cost for the 1/2-day training is $75 with an early bird price of $49 for those who register by 3/1/2019. (A light snack will be provided.) - NOW MODIFIED TO INCLUDE A LEVEL I TRAINING IF DESIRED; COST MODIFIED AS A RESULT. THE 1/2 DAY OPTION IS ALSO STILL AVAILABLE.

In Ms. Jen's level II training on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 8:30-3:30 CST, educators will dive deeper into learning how to utilize trauma-informed RTI to meet the needs of all kids. Specifically, attendees will learn how to incorporate Ms. Jen's river of feelings visual and its accompanying activities as well as mindfulness practices - all according to different tiers of support. Come ready to create a plan for school change. Only sign up for this training if you have attended a previous Ms. Jen training that included a focus on trauma-sensitive discipline practices. Cost for the 1-day training is $150 with an early bird price of $99 for those who register by 3/1/2019. (A light breakfast will be provided and lunch will be on your own.)
