Alongside Jordan Vale on keys, trumpet and vocals, Mr. Vale’s Math Class includes musicians Nick Hamel on guitar, Patrick Golichnik on bass, James Ford on drums, Miette LaPierre on vocals, JD Erickson on saxophone along with a rotating cast of dynamic guest musicians.
JAY SI PROOF
Jay Si Proof was created by trombonist and vocalist Jeff Chilton whose credits include performing with The Diamonds, The Platters, Broken Social Scene, and recording on over 20 albums by Portland based ensembles. Described as "earth jazz alchemists" by Vortex Magazine, Jay Si Proof's original music plays between rhythmic grooves, personal lyrics, and jazzy harmonies, blending the finesse of a Steely Dan record with the aesthetic of old school funk like The Meters and new school R&B like Erykah Badu. Their music has been featured on Portland's KMHD radio and abroad in European and South American new music playlists.
CHIBIA
Chibia is a violinist, vocalist, music educator, and lettering/calligraphy artist based in Portland OR. She has earned a Bachelors in Music Education and a Masters of Education from Portland State University, teaching orchestra full time in Vancouver, Washington.
During her time at Portland State University, Chibia was a member of Portland State University's Symphony Orchestra and multiple chamber ensembles, appearing on Portland State University's Chamber Choirs' album Erik Esenvalds: The Doors of Heaven which ranked #1 in Classical Music upon its release. She was also a part of PDX Collective, Portland State University's jazz choir, making it as one of the top 6 finalists at the Monterey Jazz Festival in Monterey, California. In the summer of 2017, Chibia joined the band Jazz Boyfriends as the violinist, one of two vocalists, as well as the keyboard player, bringing some of her original works to the table. She later debuted herself as a solo artist at the Old Church with Jimmie Herrod after Jazz Boyfriends’ split in 2019. After a brief intermission from live performing, Chibia is currently in the process of recording her first solo album entitled ‘So, This Is Love?’
