"Mr. Lopez Meets Mr. Ayers: Understanding Mental Illness and Homelessness"

Please join Interim Inc. for a thought-provoking presentation from renowned Los Angeles Times journalist Steve Lopez, on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa in Monterey. Steve is the author of “The Soloist,” a true story of the friendship between Steve and Nathaniel Ayers, a musician who was homeless, mentally ill, and living on the streets of Los Angeles. It was made into a movie starring Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. in 2009.

Lopez, who has done in-depth reporting about homelessness, housing, and mental illness and is passionate about this subject, will talk about his experiences and insights, with an emphasis on homelessness and the mental health system of care. A casual reception for all event attendees will follow the presentation, which includes light refreshments. He will be also be signing copies of his book, “The Soloist.”
