MPCA Level 2 Smart Salting is a free 4.5 hour computer based class for winter maintenance leadership: public works managers, supervisors, business owners, and other lead staff. This class will be offered fully online!

Directions on how to participate online will be emailed to you after you register.

Learn how to use a new, web-based Smart Salting Assessment tool (SSAt) and begin steps for your organization to become Level 2 MPCA certified.

Using the SSAt, review your organizations past, present, and future winter maintenance practices. The tool will help your organization reduce salt use and apply salt efficiently. Learn to use the tool to create a series of reports for internal training, budgeting, and communicating with officials who fund maintenance work. Tool outputs are based on your organization’s current and future practices.

At the end of training, you will be ready to submit your Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Smart Salting Level 2 Certification. Small class size and ample help ensures a positive training experience.

Level 2 is a certification for public and private organizations to help you assess your salt use and take steps to minimize it. Unlike the level 1 certifications, Level 2 assessments are organization-wide certifications.
