Event description

Description

The Cal Arte Ensemble presents Mozart’s final magnificent masterpiece, the Requiem in the intimate setting of the Triton Museum of Art. Because of illness, Mozart's score was incomplete. We will be using the version by German musicologist, Franz Beyer – the version George Cleve believed to be the best and the one he used to perform. Our performers will include some of the finest members of the San Jose Symphonic Choir and our soloists are nothing short of stellar: from New York City, Heather Green who captured many reviewer’s praises as Salome last season at West Bay Opera, Katja Heuzeroth who has appeared at Bayreuth, Kiril Havezov a familiar face from West Bay Opera and Woojeong Lee, a rising star tenor who now resides in the Bay Area. The performance will be conducted by Cal Arte's Tamami Honma.

Also on the program, Michael Shahani will conduct excerpts from an opera by Rimsky-Korsakov that was recently premiered in the US and a world premiere of a new work written for the Cal Arte Ensemble by Luis Andrei Cobo, who with pianist Tamami Honma, was chosen as Best of the Bay by San Francisco's Classical Voice last year.

The event will include a complimentary glass of wine and light refreshments.
