Mozart Requiem for Nepal
All proceeds to benefit America-Nepal Friendship Society earthquake relief fund
On April 25th, 2015, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake shook the Nepal, bringing death and devastation to the small, peaceful nation.
Ancient buildings and domestic dwellings were flattened; villages were decimated and cut off from the world; and the human cost is staggering, with a death toll of over 8,000 and injuries numbering nearly 18,000.
Weeks later, on May 12th, a second earthquake struck the country; this quake was less powerful--7.3 on the richter scale--and brought about a smaller death toll, but the human toll--leaving many who already had very little with nothing at all--continues to mount.
This country--serene, beautiful, peaceful, rich in culture--needs our help. At a time when we are called to be good global citizens--indeed, good citizens of humanity--we must rise to the challenge and answer the call.
In response, we offer this concert: A time to celebrate life, love and culture; an opportunity to mourn, to grieve, and to come together to make a difference.
In partnership with the America Nepal Friendship Society, a New York City-based 501(c)(3) non-profit, this concert is being offered as a tribute to the people and nation of Nepal; funds from this performance will go to the relief effort.
