Course Overview:


Sadness, fear, worry, anger, sleepiness, hopelessness, trauma, and other conditions of the human
experience manifest in the body in subtle, and sometimes not so subtle, patterns. This workshop will
provide practitioners with tools for identifying physical and emotional patterns, describing the potential
for clients to make changes in their brain and body, and techniques to lead clients toward positive
transformation.

Learning Objectives:


This workshop is designed to help you:
1. Explain Neuroplasticity, Exteroception, Proprioception, and Interoception;
2. Recognize healthy and unhealthy human patterns through movement and stillness;
3. Discuss tools for developing nervous system resiliency;
4. Create a list of grounding and energizing terminology;
5. Design and lead an intervention sequence in dyads;
6. Practice brief interventions as a group.

Biography:

Michelle Crider, MA, LPC, RYT200

Michelle is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) who teaches Awareness-Infused Yoga and Mindful Movement classes to individuals and groups in behavioral health settings in the healing mountains of Asheville, NC. She completed the Subtle® Yoga RYT200 Training for Behavioral Health Professionals, with teachers Kristine Kaoverii Weber and Ashley Lester, and will complete the Subtle® Yoga RYT500 Advanced Wellness Yoga Teacher Training Program in September 2019. A form of Hatha Yoga, the Subtle® Yoga approach is inspired by Viniyoga.

Michelle began her career in the mental health field in 2001 at Ridgeview Institute in Atlanta, GA, where she served in several positions including clinical assistant, clinician, and access center supervisor. Here she worked with all age ranges, from children to geriatrics, and across the mental health spectrum, from minor depressive episodes to emergency life crises. While there, Michelle worked with women struggling with disordered eating, adolescents and adults with drug and alcohol addictions, and led groups on the womens’ unit. She was promoted to supervisor of the intake/access center, one of the busiest departments of the hospital. Michelle later went on to work with the Georgia Psychiatric Physicians Association as Associate Executive Director and Lobbyist, and staff to the Ethics Committee.

Michelle holds a Master of Arts in counseling psychology, a Bachelor of Science in business administration, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (Georgia). She is a member of Yoga Alliance and the International Association of Yoga Therapists.

October Road, Inc. is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP solely is responsible for all aspects of the program. Approval # 6469

All programs are held in the October Road, Inc. Training Room. October Road is located Take 240 west to exit 6 (Tunnel Road/Chunns Cove). Exit left to end of road and turn left. Travel to light and turn left. Pass Applebee's on right and turn into parking lot between Applebee's & Olive Garden. Travel to back of parking lot and you will see large white concrete building on left. If you are coming from 240 east at exit 6 (Tunnel Road/Chunns Cove) travel to light and turn right. Olive Garden and Applebee's will be on your immediate left. Turn left into parking lot between the two restaurants. Travel to back of parking lot and you will see a large white concrete building on left.
