Moving On: Healing the Pain of Divorce
Event Information
About this Event
Facing separation and divorce fractures the very core of our lives and the personal world we once knew can become overwhelming.
Feelings of shock and disbelief may flood our ability to focus, leaving us to feel confused, scared, and without a clear roadmap to follow. The stress, sadness and/or guilt about the loss of a marriage may even take a physical toll on our bodies and shake our self-confidence.
Whether you are separated, currently in the process of divorce, or getting on with life, Moving On: Healing the Pain of Divorce offers an opportunity to privately explore your deepest thoughts and feelings without fearing the reaction of others.
To Participate:
Bring a pad of paper and a pen and join me online for 2-hours of informative and growth-fostering interventions:
- Gain insight into the process of change and transition in divorce
- Learn the method of Expressive Writing - a safe and private way to foster resilience in the face of divorce.
Attendance can be anywhere from 1 to 10 participants, i.e., it can be conducted on an individual or group basis.
Expressive Writing Information
Moving On: Healing the Pain of Divorce is based on the process created by James Pennebaker, PhD and John Evans, EdD in their book, Expressive Writing: Words that Heal.
"Writing about an emotionally charged subject or an unresolved trauma helps you put the event into perspective and give some structure and organization to those anxious feeings, which ultimately helps you get through it". -James Pennebaker
No writing experience is necessary and all writing content is confidential - you will not be asked to read or share your work with anyone.
Participating in this experience will provide you with an opportunity to:
- learn about the process of change and transition in divorce
- build new connections & community
- practice the art of letting go and moving forward
- create a safe space for expressing the unspoken
- express your deepest thoughts and feelings about your separation/divorce
- engage in mindful practice/writing
- stimulate ongoing awareness
