Description

What's ahead in the next decade for transportation?

With a rapidly growing population and aging infrastructure, the Bay Area is at the epicenter of the transportation's transformation. Between medium sized cities like Palo Alto and larger metropolitan areas like San Francisco and San Jose, the road ahead will necessitate repairs and revisions to outdated infrastructure, adoption of new technologies, and coordination across city boundaries. How cities like Palo Alto and its counterparts tackle transportation will have a direct effect on the cities of the future and the creation of truly livable communities for constituents.

On June 4, 2016, in cities across the nation, city leaders, citizens, students, and technologists will collaboratively create, build and invent to solve challenges as part of the National Day of Civic Hacking. In partnership with leading local organizations, the City of Palo Alto is helping to explore the most innovative trends and technologies that may re-invent mobility in our region. From 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, participating stakeholders will learn about the challenges and constraints in transportation from Bay Area leaders, learn how to hack transportation data using city infrastructure and mobile devices, and discover startup technology changing the way we move.
