We have been talking about doing a movie night for months and I (Katie) am hoping that this turns into a monthly event, and I am talking with Films for Action to become the city leader for Milwaukee. Films For Action uses the power of film to raise awareness of important social, environmental, and media-related issues not covered by the mainstream news. Their goal is to provide citizens with the information and perspectives essential to creating a more just, sustainable, and democratic society.
The first movie we are going to show is Food Matters, you are what you eat. This movie changed my life. I watched it early last year when I was feeling particularly out of shape and unhealthy. After watching, I committed to getting back in shape and eating better, I went back to Bikram that very day and since then have been at yoga at least 4x a week. I also decided to start using the juicer I bought and fifty days later I was feeling the best I ever have. I continue to focus on eating as much raw and unprocessed food as possible.
"Anyone who is serious about their health needs to see this stunning film."
Christiane Northrup, MD, internationally acclaimed women’s health expert
After the movie we will discuss thoughts on the movie and how we can all take steps to implement what we learned.
