About this event
Training Overview
In addition to campaign basics such as crafting a campaign plan, we train candidates and campaign staff on our fundamental organizing methodology and theory of change. Intro sessions include:
Power, Self Interest, Building a Bigger We & Movement Governing.
Sessions will be facilitated by a mix of electeds, former candidates and political staff at grassroots organizations who will provide lessons throughout on how to relate campaign work back to issue campaigns within your organizing and vice versa.
Our aim is to provide a space for long term engagement with candidates and campaign staff, offering rotating sessions that cover topics member organizations have tried and tested. Rather than engage in an intro course and be done, our hope is that members of our broader movement politics program across the country can propose and attend tracks that will help tackle the biggest shared challenges of campaigning across our network.
What to Expect from the Training
- A deep-dive into the our ideology and theory of change
- Lots of time for self reflection on your skin in the game, reactions to power and the type of co-governing relationship you want
- Hands-on role playing, practice, and skill-building to strengthen your skills
- Time to dig into your own campaign plan and caucus with others in your state
We will take great care to make this virtual training engaging with plenty of breaks.
Application Requirements
This training is for anyone interested in running for office, working on a campaign, organizers who want to electoralize their issue fights, and grassroots community leaders who want to build power through elections.
