Description

Globe Miami Times is proud to be the host of Mountainfilm on Tour for the Globe-Miami-San Carlos communities, making this the first Mountainfilm on Tour stop to ever take place in our region.

Mountainfilm is known for their culturally rich, adventure-packed, incredibly inspiring short film documentaries, and we are looking forward to an exciting evening for our audience.

We are thrilled to see San Carlos represented in this years' line up with the film The Mystery of Now. This short documentary by director Audrey Buchanan features Douglas Miles Sr., artist and founder of Apache Skateboards, and his life on the San Carlos Reservation as an entrepreneur, mentor for youth, and catalyst between generations.

As part of this year's event, we are excited to announce that director Audrey Buchanan will be here to host a Q&A session, along with Douglas Miles and the skaters in the film.

Come EARLY to enjoy the evening with live music, food and vendors. Event opens at 5:00 p.m.

Seating for the show begins at 6:30 p.m.

Show 7:00 p.m. (Note: Some of the films contain explicit language.)

Intermission with Q&A Session and Raffle! 8 - 8:30 p.m.

Q&A with Buchanan, Douglas Miles and Team

RAFFLES:

Win cool stuff! Raffle winners will be announced during intermission. Raffle prizes include four Apache Skateboards and a Dolly Steamboat cruise on Canyon Lake! 100% of raffle ticket proceeds will go to the ACE and CARE programs benefitting local youth at risk in Globe, San Carlos, and Miami.

By supporting our event, you are also supporting a screening of Mountainfilm for Students on Tour a free, precurated Mountainfilm show open to Globe, Miami and San Carlos students during school on October 17.

MAKE IT A WEEKEND and EXPERIENCE APACHE JII on Saturday, October 19

This will be the 36th year for Apache Jii, an event which is free to the public. Apache Jii features over three dozen Apache and Native American artisans, food vendors, and performances throughout the day, making this a crowd favorite year after year. The artwork for this year's poster was done by Douglas Miles! Hosted by the Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce, the festivities kick off at 9:00 am in downtown Globe and run through 4 p.m.
