Event description

Description

Gather together at Octo Fishbar in St. Paul’s Lowertown to support Diane Moua's father Teng Moua, who is battling rectal cancer.

Teng Moua immigrated to the United States in 1982 from Thailand with his wife of 39 years, Nhia Vang. Together they raised six children. Moua worked in several professions to support his family before settling in Junction City, WI, where he started his family farm. He is also an active leader in the Hmong American community and has served as the President of both the Hmong American Association of Portage County and the Moua Council of Wisconsin.

In Fall 2018, Moua was unfortunately diagnosed with rectal cancer. He has been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation and is continuing to receive treatment. Last winter, he underwent surgery to remove the cancer and is still waiting to see if he's cancer-free. The inflated cost of treatment and loss of income due to this debilitating illness has taken a toll on the entire family. Supporting this event will help alleviate some of the financial stress that accompanies the cancer fight and allow him to focus on fighting this disease full force. 100% of the event funds will go directly to Teng.

Join the Twin Cities who's who of chefs as they donate their time and ingredients to prepare special dishes, which will also integrate the Moua family farm-supplied produce to create seasonal and original dishes for the guests. Some of the top bartenders in town will be serving amazing wine and exclusive signature cocktails. Our host and emcee, Jason DeRusha of WCCO/Minnesota Monthly, will be sure to keep the night fun and meaningful.
