Don’t miss the excitement of Motown sound on Saturday, October 19, 2019, from 8 to 10 p.m. as Upwards Entertainment presents “Motor City Revues” at the Hunterdon Central HS Little Theater, Junction Road in Flemington.

Motor City Revues, an upbeat and exciting Motown tribute, features the music of favorites and legends including The Temptations, Diana Ross and the Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, Smokey Robinson, Jackie Wilson and more.

Elegantly presented with a touch of classy comedy, your hosts for the evening, Derrick L. Baker and Vida Allworthy, will have you tapping your feet and ready to dance in the ! There’s something fun for everyone in this feel-good musical journey!

Mr. Baker, co-producer and director, and a veteran of the stage since the age of five, is a trained professional tap dancer who has been featured in the national tours of “Smokey Joe’s Café,” “Sophisticated Ladies,” “Five Guys Named Moe,” “Cotton Club,” “Ain’t Misbehavin,” “Godspell,” “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Your Arms Too Short To Box With God,” “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” and “A Chorus Line.” He can currently be seen as a lead vocalist in the national and international touring tribute show “Forever Motown” as well as one of the world-famous “Drifters.” He has been “the voice of the Audelco’s” for several years, having done voice-over work for the renowned “Audelco Awards.” He has also been seen in several of the Emmy award-winning Irving Street Repertory productions of the Emmy award-winning McDonald’s Gospel Fest on television’s ABC 7 and UPN 9 as a featured vocalist and Metro Choir member, and most recently in the 2000 Voices for Peace Choir at Madison Square Garden in New York City. As Director of Arts Education for Exposure CMR and co-founder of Golden Treasures, a New York City-based community outreach agency, Derrick made his directorial debut with his original writings and fully staged productions of “Family Reunion” parts 1&2, “Mis-Conceptions” parts 1&2, “Resolution & Change,” and most recently “The Church of Honest and Trust” parts 1-3, all seen throughout the five boroughs of New York City.

Ms. Allworthy, co-producer and choreographer, is a celebrated singer, dancer and choreographer and has performed in the national tours of “Smokey Joe’s Café,” “Sophisticated Ladies,” “West Side Story,” “My One and Only” and “Will Rogers Follies.” She has had the pleasure of working with The Beach Boys, Johnny Maestro & The Brooklyn Bridge, Jay Black and The Americans, and The Shirelles. She is also in the Guinness Book of World Records for being a part of the largest gospel choir performance.
