Brewery History Bike & Brew Tour - You will see former brewery sites in downtown Detroit and bike by the new generation of breweries. Let our tour guides take you on a leisurely bike ride through Detroit’s past and present. This 10 mile tour offers you a relaxed riding pace for all biking abilities.

Prohibition History Bike & Brew Tour - You will see former prohibition sites in downtown Detroit. Learn about Detroit’s bootlegging, rum-runners and gangs during Prohibition. This bike tour will take to Belle Isle and back.  This 15 mile tour offers you a relaxed riding pace for all biking abilities.

Auto History Bike & Brew Tour See little known automotive sites on the lower east-side of Detroit. We created a different twist on automotive history that you are sure to enjoy. Learn about the history of these buildings, and how they have changed over time. This 11 mile tour offers you a relaxed riding pace for all biking abilities.

Cork-Mex Town History Bike Tour See all that Corktown and Mexicantown has to offer on this route. Learn about the history of these two famous areas, and how they have changing into the new hip areas of Detroit. This 10 mile tour offers you a relaxed riding pace for all biking abilities.

Bike Tour Frequently Asked Questions

What is included on the bike tour? Ticket includes a guided bike tour with support staff, historical commentary, 4 - 8oz Michigan craft beers and lunch. Please note - ‘BYOB’ - Bring Your Own Bike for this tour. Limited bike rentals w/helmets included available. Please reserve them on the ticketing page.

Do I get to drink alcohol during the bike tour? This is a bike tour about Detroit history and not a drinking tour. We reward your day of exercise and education with a couple of beers at the end of the tour. We support responsible biking and do not encourage drinking during our bike tours, but have no problem rewarding it at the end of the tour!

Will you feed me on the bike tour? All of our  bike tours include a lunch (sandwiches) at the conclusion of tour. Pick your preference for the sandwich at checkout. Soda and/or water available upon request.

How many tickets are available per bike tour? We limit the tickets to 20 per event. We feel this size of group is ideal for guided bike tours. This is a paid tour. The tour guides and staff are there to support the tour guests who paid for this experience.

B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Bike): Please note that bikes and helmets are NOT included in the ticket price. If you have a bike, bring it. Your bike misses you and wants you to ride it more often! Limited bike rentals w/helmet available per tour at $10 per bike. Please reserve them on the ticketing page.

What does a Private Bike & Brew Tour package include?
-3 hour guided bike tour with SAG support in Downtown Detroit (From 10 - 20 people @ $35 each)
-5 routes to choose from: Brewery, Prohibition, Theater, Auto and CorkMexTown History Routes
-3 beers and light lunch w/cheese & fruit tray - ALL INCLUSIVE!
-Bike Rentals available at $10 per bike (Limited)

How far do we bike and is it hard? The bike tour routes are 8-15 miles, on flat paved road surfaces. We will ride on the road, bike lanes, sidewalks and bike paths. The distance varies depending on the tour you pick. We will have a tour guide to set the pace up front and a person in back to make sure we all stay together. We ride a relaxing pace to help you learn about the history in Detroit, soak in the scenery and enjoy time with friends!

Where do the bike tours begin and where should I park? The tours will depart from and return to the Traffic Jam & Snug Restaurant parking lot. The lot is located across from 511 W. Canfield St, Detroit, MI 48201 (on Canfield between Cass Ave. and 2nd Ave). They offer us a gated parking lot that is safe and free! Street parking is also available when the lot is locked. Meters on Saturday street parking and free street parking on Sunday.

What time do the bike tours start? Tours start at 10 am (unless noted on ticketing page).

What if I am late to the bike tour? We operate on a specific timeline. Please be at the designated departure location at least 20 minutes prior to the start time of the tour. Ending times for tours may vary slightly due to weather, traffic, etc. Call the number listed on your ticket with any issues prior to the start of the tour.

What is the company policy regarding cancellations for Bike Tours: Reservation Fees received by Motor City Brew Tours for Bike Tours can be transferred to another event or refunded if the cancellation greater than 14 days prior to the event start date. Any cancellations for events 14 days or less prior to the event start date are non-refundable and not transferable to other events. If you are unable to attend an event, tour tickets can always be transferred to another guest. Motor City Brew Tours reserves the right to cancel events for safety concerns such as high winds, thunderstorms, excessive heat or cold, or other severe conditions. In the event of such a cancellation, you may either reschedule or request a full refund. We ride in cold, hot or even rainy weather!

What steps are taken to ensure rider safety? We avoid automobile traffic when possible. Each tour begins with a safety and bike usage talk. Your tour guides are trained to perform basic bike care, but please bring bikes that are ready to ride. Mountain, comfort or road bikes are fine for this bike tour route. For your safety, helmets are strongly recommended for all of our tours.

What should I bring with me on the bike tour? Yourself, a bike in good working condition, helmet, water, bike lock, identification, cell phone, a little money for other purchases, tire pump and a spare bike tube. The tour guide will have a bike pump with him/her as well. Please wear seasonally appropriate clothing, sunblock, rain gear (if needed) and don’t forget your camera! We will have plenty of picture taking opportunities.

Is there anything I should do prior to arriving to the bike tour?
Please check the following items on your bike:
-Tires - Inflate tires to rated pressure listed on sidewall of tire.
-Chain - Check the chain. If the chain skips, you may need an adjustment.
-Wheel - Wheel hubs and/or quick release levers need to be tight on the bike frame.
-Inspect - Inspect the bike for loose or broken parts. Tighten or fix them before you ride.
-Ride - Take a quick ride to ensure derailleurs and brakes are working properly.
