Mother 2 Mother, a Conversation between Black mothers to White about "the talk" and other challenges of raising a Black child in America, will be held at Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Missouri.
A compelling vehicle to help heal the racial divide and address over policing in the African American community, this Mother 2 Mother will specifically address the issue of disparities in educational settings that adversely impact African American students.
PURPOSE: Created and presented by The Ethics Project, an award-winning non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that addresses the impact of crime, incarcerations and injustice on children, families and the community, the purpose of Mother 2 Mother is to expose a community of women to the dangers and reality of raising Black sons and daughters in America -regardless of the socio-economic status achieved. In this instance, the purpose is also to raise awareness of the impact that racially imbalanced policies and attitudes have on the success and self-image of Black students. The two and 1/2 hour evening, including a reception that provides one-on-one conversations with the Mothers, will provide an outlet for Black mothers to share in their struggle.Together, the Conversations are intended to spur women to use their considerable power and energy to create broad change within their homes, schools, and communities.
The program is free and open to the public. This is not an appropriate setting for children.
