Description

MOSAIC with Mary: French “Pique Assiette” Method
with Mary Alexander, Professional Glass Mosaic Artist

July 25 and 26, 6:30-8:30pm, ages 12-Adult, $63 if registered by July 16 ($73 after July 16)

Oo la la! Experience a mosaic method which celebrates cherished art from the past, by giving it a whole new life! Pique assiette - (Pronounced Peek-a-see-it) - or picassiette ( a french term -“stolen from plate”), uses broken pieces of pottery, china, glass, buttons, figurines, and/or jewelry, adhering it onto a base to create a new “mosaic” surface. Almost any form can be used as a base, and any combination of pieces can be applied, restricted only by the individual creator’s imagination. Broke a favorite dish? Don’t throw it out! Bring it to class and add it to create your unique art piece! All supplies are included to create an 8”x10” image using broken china, crockery, jewelry bits and other “found objects” during this two-session class!
