Event description

Description

Steampunk

With aged metal, found objects, photos, and clay, in addition to more traditional mosaic materials, we will explore the shapes and patinas of the familiar objects to create whimsical and beautiful mosaic jewelry that brings together art, science, and technology.

In a single session, each participant will make a pendant or pair of earrings using glass, stone, and found objects. Glass artist Emily Bhargava will demonstrate and provide personal instruction to learn or advance your mosaic art skills, including glass cutting and nipping, setting tesserae, color tone, setting images behind glass, and incorporating found objects.

All are welcome! No mosaic experience necessary.

All materials will be provided.

This program is part of a series of mosaic jewelry workshops offered this fall. Sign up for one or all three!

About the Instructor

Emily Bhargava is an artist and community organizer who has been teaching and leading community art projects for more than 20 years. As a stained glass artist, mosaic artist, muralist, and a facilitator, Emily often works on the border between art and public health, using art to share health information, to increase community capacity and collaboration, and to increase engagement in building healthy communities. Glass is her preferred medium, as it has the potential to transform spaces and change as the light changes.
