"Mortgage Securitization Analyst "MSA"—A 24-hour online intensive training seminar."

  • Study and learn important topics related to Mortgage Securitization, terminology, and borrower documents, SEC Search Techniques, SPV search, document review, MERS search, GSE search, Assignments, Separation of Note/Deed, Substitution of Trustees, Notice of Defaults, & Trustee Sales, Bloomberg Screens, AbsNet lookups, and more.
  • Complex analysis of how to obtain recorded documents, their significance, and to analyze the same.
  • Complete (5) five full Mortgage Securitization Audits under the direct supervision of the Senior Auditor, including Chain of Title Reports, Robosigning analysis, Special Purpose vehicles analysis, and the Bloomberg Screenshots.
  • Understand the complexities of form and substance related to Expert Witness Testimony and how to use your portfolio of Education and Experience to Educate Judges and Opposing Counsel on Securitization Issues, Chain of Title, and Robosigning.
  • Receive a Certificate of Completion recognizing that you sufficiently meet the CFLA requirements necessary to be accredited as a "Mortgage Securitization Analyst".


  • Suitable background in mortgage, real estate, underwriting, legal and/or securities experience is recommended.
  • Must promptly attend and be present for a minimum of 24 hours of training.
  • Must satisfactorily pass a criminal background check/ Sex Offender Check [looking mostly for fraud, embezzlement].
  • Must satisfactorily pass the final examination at the end of the course.

Securitization Training Outline

  • First, a revision of all pre-class reading material list, including handouts for each session, brochures, training survey forms, and securitized analysis report templates that will be worked on in each session.
  • will be purchased by CFLA for usage in the class.
  • CFLA will provide an electronic securitized analysis report template for each student.
  • Overhead projector and PowerPoint type presentation slide show sequence. Including the live video of the Massachusetts Supreme Court hearing.
  • Important to "define" the purpose of the investigation of the mortgage background to determine whether securitization has been followed by the terms of the PSA/prospectus.
  • Divide sessions into SIX (6) segments for the first day which model the six sections of the SAR.
  • At the end of the first day, the student will take home a securitized analysis report assignment to prepare using a CFLA template.
  • On the second day instructors will provide video education to all students while separately meeting with each student to review the securitized analysis report prepared by the student and answer individual questions.
  • On the last half of the second day the student will prepare a securitized analysis report in class as a practical examination to be certified by CFLA.

Day 1

3 Hours

  • Introductions: CFLA, Instructor
  • Objectives for Course: Introductory course to mortgage securitization and the securitization audit process.  Course provides industry recognized certification as a Mortgage Securitization Analyst.  Student will be able to perform audits where the name of the loan trust is known or obtainable from title records.
  • MARS act and state law (e.g. California State Assembly Bill No. 2325) re. Mortgage Foreclosure Consultants: loan audits
  • Real Estate Acquisition, the Mortgage Process, Essentials of Securitization, Loan Servicing and Foreclosure
  • Walk-through of a level 2 audit (findings in county records or ABSNet; no Bloomberg screens), Case #1
  • Homework: Prepare Case #2, review reading list
  • Q&A


3 Hours

  • Looking up a loan: Fannie Mae; Freddie Mac; MERS; ABSNet; County records
  • Case #2
    • Gathering of documents
    • Review of CFLA loan audit template for Level 2 audits – discussion of each major section
    • Discussion of the transaction parties to a loan securitization
    • The role of the SEC, investors and reviewing SEC documents
  • Report preparation standards / code of ethics
  • Homework: Case #3 email to instructor prior to next class
  • 4 Hour Instructional DVD provided to all Students to watch overnight

Day 2

  • Finish audit in class (Case #3) with instructor
  • The need for securitization audits
  • Legal theory behind securitization audits: real parties in interest; MERS; chain of title
  • Homework Case #4.  Email to instructor prior to next class.  Prepare any mortgage loans you would like to lookup up in next session

  • Review selected students Case #4 work
  • ABSnet software and demonstration

Homework – Prepare for final; email instructor any questions by Monday before exam
