Pi Theta Omega Chapter

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was founded in 1908 on the campus of Howard University and is the first Greek-lettered organization for African American women. The Sorority’s mission of “Service to All Mankind” that began in 1908 continues today and has been at the forefront of positive change in American life, particularly in the African American community.  Today, Alpha Kappa Alpha continues to fulfill the service imperatives avowed by our founders through creative programs, awareness, advocacy, action and collaborative partnerships.

The chartering of the Pi Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. on May 31, 1986, with her twenty-two members marked the establishment of the first African American Greek organization in Morristown and the beginning of what will become a long legacy of Alpha Kappa Alpha sisterhood and service to the community.

In implementing the initiatives of "Launching New Dimensions of Service" under the Leadership of International President Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson, Pi Theta Omega's programs of service ensure that the chapter has focused programs, events, and activities that engage the efforts of chapter members and attract members of our community.

Pi Theta Omega Chapter is excited to be the recipient of multiple awards from the North Atlantic Region of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated:

  • 2016 Third Place Medium Chapter of the Year Award
  • 2015 First Place Medium Chapter of the Year Award
  • 2015 Launching New Dimensions of Service Program: Global Impact Award
  •  2014 Launching New Dimensions of Service Program: Pre-Launch Childhood Hunger Achievement Award (first awarded in the region)
  • 2014 Ruth C. Easley Chapter Reactivation Award - Small Chapter
  • 2013 First Place Small Chapter of the Year Award

We have held high the standards and purposes of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated for 30 years in the Morris County Community and on behalf of the Notable North Atlantic Region, we show our appreciation and gratitude.
