Description

ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND THE MARCH. CLERGY, PLEASE WEAR YOUR CLERICAL VESTEMENTS.

Two weeks ago dozens of DC area faith leaders gathered on Capitol Hill to pray together and speak out against the bigotry, systemic racism and white nationalism of Trump's cabinet nominees.

Now, civil right leaders and interfaith clergy are planning a Moral Monday March to the Capitol for Monday January 9th.

The next day, the US Senate will begin hearings on Jeff Session's nomination to Attorney General. Sen. Sessions has a long record of racist comments, and he prosecuted civil rights activists doing voter registration in Alabama. As the top law enforcement official in the country, his support for a Muslim entry ban and his opposition to immigration and criminal justice reform is a grave threat to our core democratic principles.

Together, we can send a message to Senators, reporters, and the public - a message that we will not stand idly by when bigotry, systemic racism and white supremacy are being normalized and elevated to such power.

We will start at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation on East Capitol Street and march together to the Russell and then Hart Senate Office Buildings. Please plan to wear comfortable walking shoes.
