About this event

Moonshine Still plays rock music. Frankenrock music.

In 1996, the fertile musical ground of Macon, Georgia started to reverberate with the sounds of Moonshine Still.  Influenced by an eclectic mix of rock, funk, and soul, and with world music and electronic elements, Moonshine Still distilled these influences into a surprisingly cohesive and palatable harmonious blend.  The band consisted of singer/guitarist Scott Baston, drummer/singer Will Robinson, bassist/singer Ray Petren, guitarist David Shore, keyboardist Trippe Wright, and percussionist Bill Jarrett.  Each member provided a unique background of musical interests and influence.

Within the first two years, Moonshine Still started their tireless touring schedule that would persist for nearly a decade. The band performed an average of 200 shows per year, carving through the United States, and providing audiences a taste of the unique blend of music each night.  At times it felt as though the band was sharing their autobiography through well-crafted songs with heartfelt lyrics and soulful vocals, sustained by powerful rhythms, surging guitars, and swirling keyboards that took audiences on improvisational musical journeys that would allow listeners to explore previously undiscovered sonic territory in the moment.

Moonshine Still released three full-length albums and one live album until 2007, when they decided to tap the brakes.  Unfortunately, there has been no presence of their music in the digital streaming landscape.  Moonshine Still will release one album at a time to streaming services throughout 2022.  It has been many years since Moonshine Still’s unique blend has been available.  Moonshine Still produced a mix that was not always “good for you, but it sure did make you smile.”  If you didn’t get a chance to try it when it was brand newI, go ahead and dust off the bottle.  As Big Momma used to say, “Oh, it’s gonna to be delicious.”

In one review on their first album "Moon Over Georgia", Baston said, "We all share together, we are all equal, and we all hurt and love to the fullest capacity that human beings are able, and through those experiences we help one another overcome any obstacles that get in the way so we can all arrive at the same place together. This is why we do what we do."
