Event description

Description

Event: 5K Run/Walk

Host: The Aruna Project, a US non-profit dedicated to freeing, empowering, and employing sexually enslaved women in India.

Why Run or Walk? Run or walk for an enslaved woman by name who the Aruna Project staff personally know and are working to free from the brothels. Thanks to local race sponsors covering race expenses, 100 percent of registration fees and donations goes to bring and sustain freedom to women in desperate need of new beginnings.

Time: 5K starts at 8:00 am. Walk-up registration opens at 7:00 am.

Fees: One-hundred percent goes to free, empower, and employ!

  • Adults - $25

  • Kids 5-12 - $15

  • Kids Under 5 - Free (no t-shirt)

Race Giveaways: Each Aruna Run participant will receive an Athletic Drawstring Backpack made by women who are now freed, empowered, and employed, as well as a t-shirt. Each finisher will also receive a 2019 Aruna Run finisher medal. Sign up early to be guaranteed a t-shirt.

Teams: Fundraising teams are welcomed and encouraged. Team formation will occur after registration is complete.

Fundraising: Fundraising is optional but very impactful as 100% goes to free, empower, and employ. You can fundraise as a team or an individual. After registering, click on the Crowdrise fundraising link on the registration confirmation page to set up your fundraiser. Download our fundraising toolkit today for help getting started.

Sponsors: A big thank you to our generous sponsors for offsetting the cost of the event, ensuring that 100% of the money raised from entry fees and donations will go directly to help free, empower, and employ the women we serve.

Awards: Following the finish, we will be celebrating funds raised by awarding an appreciation gift to the individual and team who raised the most money for freedom. Awards will also be given to the top male and female overall race winners, as well as male and female winners of each age category.

Race Host: The Montrose Aruna Run is organized locally by Graham Trenda. For questions about the run, volunteering, or becoming a sponsor, contact Graham at graham.trenda@gmail.com.

Donations: Donations can be made on the official Montrose Aruna Run 2019 Fundraising Page. You can choose to make a general event donation or donate specifically to an individual's or team's fundraising campaign.

Refund Policy: No refunds.

FAQs

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, as long as he/she is well-behaved and on-leash the whole time. For safety reasons, we ask that you join the walkers of the race to prevent tripping hazards for our runners. Also, please bring your own bags to pick up after your dog. Thanks for helping us keep the park clean!”

Are walkers welcome?

Of course! Whether walking or running, we are all out there for the same goal -- to raise funds to help bring freedom to the sexually enslaved.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Nope! As long you can cover the distance, we welcome all ages to participate. Parents are welcome to push kids in strollers too.

Can I update my registration information?

We all make mistakes and things change. So yes, you can update your registration information.

Is my registration fee transferrable?

Unfortunately, no. But if you cannot join us for the race, we will still make every effort to ensure you get your race giveaway items. Contact Graham Trenda at wallacegt@rocketmail.com to make arrangements to pick them up.

And the good news is 100% of your registration fee goes directly towards the cause of freeing, empowering, and employing enslaved women. So even if you can't join us, your money will still make an impact.

Is it okay if the name on my registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Unfortunately, no. We need all registrations to match the person who attends the race for timing and legal purposes.
