About this event

Every month, music therapy clinicians and others will engage in conversation and community building through a live Zoom interaction. Each Monthly Music Therapy Meet will include a specific clinical topic focused on administrative and clinical tasks and topics such as (but not limited to) IEP regulations; writing goals, objectives, and benchmarks; HIPAA/FERPA and other regulations affecting clinical practice; ethics of music therapy clinical work; data collection; telehealth considerations and techniques; assessment/treatment planning/evaluation cycles; creativity; and composition.

Attendance in the Monthly Music Therapy Meets will be free, but Board-Certified music therapists will have the option of earning CMTEs as part of the event.

Learning Objectives:

• Participants will complete directed exercises focused on administrative and clinical tasks and topics such as (but not limited to) IEP regulations; writing goals, objectives, and benchmarks; HIPAA/FERPA and other regulations affecting clinical practice; ethics of music therapy clinical work; data collection; telehealth considerations and techniques; assessment/treatment planning/evaluation cycles; creativity; and composition. These exercises will include discussion with other therapists, participation in a private Facebook group (for those attending in an asynchronous manner), example tasks, and the completion of targeted questions included in the course evaluation for each Monthly Music Therapy Meet. (CBMT Board Certification Domains: II.D.6; II.D.7; II.D.9; II.D.10)

• Participants will create songs, materials, props, and other clinical tools to increase therapeutic engagement of clients. These creative products will be shared by participants during the Monthly Music Therapy Meets or via a private Facebook group (for those attending in an asynchronous manner). • Participants will engage in community-building through discussion, sharing of ideas, collaboration, composing, and developing goal-based therapeutic interventions for the support of clients in music therapy services. (CBMT Board Certification Domains: V.A.1; V.A.3; V.A.4; V.A.6; V.B.5; V.B.9; V.B.11; V.B.14)

Course Schedule and Format: Each participant may select the desired number of modules to complete. We offer a minimum of 2 CMTEs per monthly meeting. Participants may choose a level of CMTE credit from 2 CMTE hours to 24 hours over 12 months. Each presentation will include 100 minutes of interaction or skill demonstration

• 00:10 – Community Check-In and Musicking

• 00:20 – Presentation of topic for meeting *See below for topic areas.

• 00:30 – Discussion/Collaboration – Use of breakout rooms for specific topic areas as appropriate for the presentation

• 00:40 – Group sharing, and mini presentations based on discussion/collaboration breakout rooms

• 00:50 – Transferring knowledge into clinical practice

• 01:20 – Setting the topic area and agenda for the following month

• 01:30 – Evaluations and sign-off
