Featuring Dr. Sharon Damore and Munir Shivji

This seminar will provide the school administrator with a leadership paradigm to strengthen school improvement within the context of Montessori education. Topics include (1) leading and facilitating change within a Montessori community and (2) ensuring high-quality Montessori in your classrooms. The seminar is intended to be a great resource of networking for a new, aspiring and/or veteran administrator. Participants will leave with information for immediate application in their school environments.

Dr. Sharon Damore has over 35 years of experience working in Elementary and Secondary schools and higher education. She has an AMS Early Childhood credential, and, from the University of Houston, an EdD in Education Leadership and an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction. Sharon is an adjunct professor of education leadership at DePaul University, in Chicago, Illinois, and a lecturer at the AMS-affiliated Seton Montessori Institute in nearby Clarendon Hills. She also currently serves as the AMS Vice President. Sharon has founded several Montessori initiatives, including the AMS Accreditation Commission, the AMS Policy Committee, and the Montessori Public Policy Initiative, of which she is the Board Treasurer. Previously she was head of school of the AMS-accredited Chiaravalle Montessori School in Evanston, Illinois, among other many other positions in private and public schools. Sharon is the former executive director and a current active member of the Association of Illinois Montessori Schools.


Munir Shivji, M.Ed. is a second-generation Montessori educator with a decade-long record of service to the national Montessori community. He is the Director of Cambridge Montessori Institute, Director of Toddler and Primary Programs at Cambridge Montessori School in Cambridge, MA. and the Executive Director of The Institute of Montessori Education in Texas. Munir holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Houston, a Master in Education degree and AMS Early Childhood and Administrator credentials.

He has served as a field consultant, supervising teacher, and course instructor at CMTE/NY, and is a current member of the American Montessori Society (AMS) Board of Trustees and Executive Committee, currently serving as President. He has presented numerous times at the AMS Annual Conferences and serves on many national committees.

Munir has established three private Montessori schools in Houston, Sugar Land, and Katy, Texas.
