The tour explores the rich legacy of Gothic architecture in Manchester. It takes guests from the original Medieval Gothic style in the carvings and shapes of the city’s oldest buildings through the Battle of the Styles in the middle nineteenth century which saw the triumph of Neo-Gothic to the last magnificent flowering of Gothic as the twentieth century dawned. Gargoyles, saints, saviours, devils and exquisite creatures illuminate the tour which is delivered in an entertaining yet authoritative style.
Meet: Outside Manchester Cathedral, south porch.
